Description
A clear, one-page scale and arpeggio reference compatible with ABRSM Cello Grade 1.
This downloadable chart shows all the scale and arpeggio requirements for the Grade 1 exam in a clear, easy-to-follow layout. Everything students need is presented on a single page, making it ideal for practice at home or quick reference during lessons.
Developed by specialist cello teacher, Rachael Perry, all of the fingerings and hand positions reflect the practical realities of cello technique. The chart shows the required scales with rhythms and bowing patterns, together with colour-coded finger diagrams that give a clear visual guide to where the notes lie on the instrument. This visual approach helps beginners understand scale patterns more quickly and practise with greater confidence.
The spacious, uncluttered layout allows players to focus on the musical patterns rather than searching for information on the page. Progress boxes provide space to tick off scales as they become secure during practice.
Useful for both teachers and students, this reference provides a clear framework for organising scale practice while still allowing teachers to adapt fingerings where appropriate.
Please note: this chart supports preparation for ABRSM exams but is not an official ABRSM publication.
